What is an Interviewer at Sam’s Echoes?

Interviewers are the heart of Sams Echoes.


You’ll welcome people who want to share their experiences, creating a comfortable, respectful space for authentic storytelling.

These recorded conversations are then transformed by our AI into interactive "Echoes" — digital legacies accessible via audio, text, and an intelligent Q&A interface.

Key outcomes of the role:

  • Capture rich, personal narratives that become lasting Echoes.

  • A relaxed, enjoyable moment of exchange with each storyteller.

  • An audio or text file, reviewed and ready for publication in an Echo.

What you will do (nothing with AI!)

Get ready

  • Talk with Sams Echoes coordinators to learn specific aspects of the offer and benefit from the experience of your colleagues.
  • Make sure that your profile corresponds to your experience, wishes, time and geographical availability.
  • Make sure that you have a functioning recording device and enough battery for up to 3h.
  • Clarify if you work as freelance or a minijob on demand.

Plan the Interview with the customer

  • Discuss the topic to understand the context and have good questions.
  • Agree on the material elements: where, when.
  • Answer any questions and orient to the coordinator if you can't answer.

Conduct the Interview

  • Conduct 2–3 hour interviews with individuals eager to share their stories.
  • Establish a good trusting relationship focused on empathy and mutual respect.
  • Listen actively and ask thoughtful, open ended questions when necessary to guide the discussion.
  • Important: don't talk about yourself or very briely, or your experiences may pass in the echo as being the storyteller's!
  • Make sure that the device is recording and that you sent  the file to the coordinators after the interview!

Check the transcription

  • Once the coordinator has generated the text from the audio file, review it to ensure that the AI will process it well.
  • No need for much formatting und punctuation. But the names of places and people are important and often misinterpreted.
  • Raise any data privacy issue so that they can be fixed.

That's it!

The coordinator will give access to the echo to the customer and storyteller (they may be  different persons). At this point, if they have no compaints, the payment is processed in full and we track this project in your profile to make you benefit from your experience with more opportunities.

We don't expect prior experience with interviews but we appreciate if you have spent time in occupations related to people relations and storytelling. Beyond this, the more personality you bring, the happier we are!

We Help You Prepare

We have experience with interviews and will be happy to share it! You'll also get a short guide with the hints on how to do a great interview.

Clear Tasks and Responsibilities

You are the interviewer. Once we have put you in contact with a storyteller, your role is to produce the audio or text with them and make sure that it corresponds to their story. For this, we set a clear framework: you are not obliged to spend more than 2 hours with the storyteller.

Choice and Transparency

We make sure you get the full information on our customers and can decide if you want to do the interview or leave somebody else do it. You also control which information about you can be communicated to potential customers.
